(Santa Rosa, CA) – A “Water Wise Home” will be on public display at the Santa Rosa Plaza starting Friday, August 14 through October to help show our community how to save water inside and outside our homes. Sponsored by the Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership, a coalition of local public water suppliers, the exhibit will feature three different rooms that offer hands-on information about greywater, low flow shower heads and faucets, and other helpful water conservation tips. The home also has interactive features to show the difference between a regular and a low flow shower head and how much water can be wasted by having a leaking faucet. The Water Wise Home also provides information on water conservation rebates available for most of the major cities in Sonoma County.
Water Agency Director Shirlee Zane said, “The Water Wise Home offers a unique opportunity for our community to see first-hand how water can be saved in our homes. So the next time you are at the Santa Rosa Plaza, please stop by and visit our home and help beat this drought.”
“This is an extremely valuable resource for the region”, said David Guhin, Director of Santa Rosa Water. “By offering a one-stop shop for practical and affordable water saving solutions we can all do our part to save.”
The Sonoma-Marin Saving Water Partnership represents 11 water utilities in Sonoma and Marin counties who have joined together to provide a regional approach to water use efficiency. The utilities are the Cities of Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Petaluma, Sonoma, Cotati; North Marin, Valley of the Moon and Marin Municipal Water Districts, Town of Windsor, California American Water, and Sonoma County Water Agency.
