Sheet Mulching at McKinley School

Sep. 16, 2023 | 9:00 am - 12:30 pm

110 Ellis St, Petaluma

Daily Acts + City of Petaluma

Daily Acts is excited to be partnering with McKinely School to host a series of programs that will help to build habitat and conserve water. Join for part 1 of a 2-part series of programs! We’ll kick off this series with a sheet mulching program, and in a few months, we will call on the community again to help us complete the installation of a pollinator habitat that will be irrigated by rainwater. Soon, McKinley will be catching 8,000 gallons of water annually with newly installed rain tanks and a rain garden – Go McKinley!

Now, back to this first program! Sheet mulching is a low-cost, low-impact opportunity to prepare your landscape for planting and irrigation. It’s also a great way to reduce weed pressure and retain water on the landscape, all while using recycled material – compost, cardboard, and mulch!

By joining the program, you’ll be lending a hand in helping to prepare the site for planting in the fall, and you’ll be able to learn more about the sheet mulching practice that can be applied to any size site! Daily Acts will talk in detail about how the sheet mulch process works, the benefits, and rebates that can help you offset costs.

As always, many hands make light work. Since the transformation space is limited registration is required for this program. If you sign up and are no longer able to attend, please email morgan@dailyacts.org to inform us of your cancellation.

This program welcomes all ages! If you are bringing a child that is under 18, we will require you to sign a waiver on the morning of the program.
