Part 3 – Fire-Wise Design Within the Defensible Space Zone
April Owens, Owner Pollinate Collective by April Owens Design, LLC, Executive Director, Habitat Corridor Project; Horticulture Chairperson, Board Secretary, California Native Plant Society, will be presenting on Firewise Design within the Defensible Space Zone. Topics will include:
- Recommendations for firewise landscape design in the 0-5’, 5-30’, and 30-100’ defensible space zones, with specific suggestions within each zone.
- Different kinds of hardscapes and mulches and their benefits and challenges.
- Discussion of California native plants and their arrangement for a more firewise landscape.
- Practical and affordable ways to achieve a beautiful, biodiverse, energy-saving and firewise landscape.
