This year marks the 40th Annual Russian River Watershed Cleanup, one of the biggest environmental volunteer events in Sonoma County! It will be held at sites around the Russian River Watershed on September 19th, 2026. Join Russian Riverkeeper in their annual tradition of gathering together and caring for the river by helping remove the trash and plastic pollution that has been building up since their last cleanup.

Every year, hundreds of volunteers come together to protect the Russian River before the winter rains carry litter to the ocean. In 2025, 520 volunteers removed 13 tons of trash in a single day! 80% of ocean trash starts on land, and your cleanup helps protect wildlife and stop pollution before it flows downstream during the winter months.
