Petaluma | Permaculture Homestead

1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Over the past twelve years, the owners have gradually transformed a thirsty front lawn, and parched, Petaluma adobe back yard into a food-producing, eco-friendly homestead.

Now, thanks to the many individuals who’ve shared this house with the owners over time, (including a landscaper, artists, photographers, musicians, psychiatrist, naturopatic doctor, biomimicry specialist and two Daily Actors), this garden has a beautiful backyard permaculture garden with raised beds, hugelkultur mounds, and fruit trees.

Other features of this garden include a laundry-to-landscape graywater system, a rain water harvesting system, drip irrigation, a chicken palace with laying hens, an owl box, solar panels, a rain garden, and vermi- and traditional composting.
